Code of Conduct and Statement of Values

The Hopewell Brewing Company is committed to a workplace and industry that prioritizes diversity, equity and inclusion. Specifically, Hopewell is committed to an environment that is inclusive to all people and is actively committed to celebrating diversity of gender and gender expression, sexuality, race and ethnicity.

The following key principles inform our approach and code of conduct:

2. Hopewell will always listen to what the survivor wants/​needs
3. Hopewell will be transparent about its role/​limitations of getting the survivor’s needs met
4. Hopewell is committed to providing information about other organizations that can meet needs that Hopewell cannot
5. Hopewell is committed to treating everyone involved with dignity and respect


CODE OF CONDUCT

The following are considered unacceptable behavior and will result in necessary action depending on the aggressor’s relationship to Hopewell. Such action includes: disciplinary action for employees, severing of business relationships for vendors or expulsion from property for customers. Unacceptable conduct that will not be tolerated is understood as a continuum of behaviours and practices that are likely to result in physical, psychological or harm or suffering. For this reason, while this list is meant to be comprehensive, Hopewell recognizes that it is not exhaustive.

- Offensive comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, mental illness, neuro(a)typicality, physical appearance, body size, age, race, or religion.

- Unwelcome comments regarding a person’s lifestyle choices and practices, including those related to food, health, parenting, drugs, and employment.

- Deliberate misgendering or use of dead’ or rejected names.

- Gratuitous or off-topic sexual images or behavior in spaces where they’re not appropriate.

- Physical contact and simulated physical contact (eg, textual descriptions like “*hug*” or “*backrub*”) without consent or after a request to stop.

- Threats of violence.

- Incitement of violence towards any individual, including encouraging a person to commit suicide or to engage in self-harm.

- Deliberate intimidation.

- Stalking or following.

- Harassing photography or recording, including logging online activity for harassment purposes.

- Unwelcome sexual attention.

- Pattern of inappropriate social contact, such as requesting/​assuming inappropriate levels of intimacy with others

- Continued one-on-one communication after requests to cease.

- Deliberate outing” of any aspect of a person’s identity without their consent except as necessary to protect vulnerable people from intentional abuse.

- Publication of non-harassing private communication.

- Belittling, or subtle expressions of bias

- Verbal, physical, or written abuse or assault

- Bullying, intimidation, or victimization
